Mr. Hagemann is a graduate of Vernon Township High School and continued his education at Montclair State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Family and Child Studies (K-8 Education). He returned to MSU to earn a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership.
Mr. Hagemann has taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade mathematics in addition to Algebra at Eisenhower Middle School in Roxbury, NJ and Randolph Middle School in Randolph, NJ. Within these roles, he has participated in various leadership opportunities and worked collaboratively with the community to create the best possible learning environment for his students. Before coming to Stanhope, he served as an assistant principal in the Wayne Township School District, traveling to three different schools and assisting with evaluation, professional development, curriculum, and instruction. Mr. Hagemann has also coached baseball at Pequannock High School and various travel baseball teams within Sussex County.
Hired by the Stanhope School District in July of 2014 to serve as Valley Road’s building principal and supervisor of special services, Mr. Hagemann worked with school staff and members of the community to promote a positive school culture, improve student attendance, establish an Algebra program that places at least 75% of the class into Honors Geometry in high school each year, and integrate the Reading and Writing Workshop Model into K-8 language arts instruction. Mr. Hagemann helped to grow the school’s self-contained programs to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and disabilities, launch a new engineering program, and worked with District leadership and the school’s technology coordinator to establish a social media presence to promote the greatness of VRS staff and students.
Mr. Hagemann began his tenure as Stanhope’s superintendent on January 1, 2018 and hopes to continue making progress towards becoming a school district recognized for its academic excellence, innovation, and tremendous character.Mr. Hagemann lives in Long Valley with his wife and three young children (Jack, Isabelle, and Kyle). He enjoys playing baseball, running, fishing, spending time with his family, and is a fan of the Mets and Jets.
